12:00 PM: Schumann Meets Mendelssohn

Enjoy period instrument performances of great works by two great contemporaries: Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. These composers carried the tradition of Beethovenian chamber music to the generation of Brahms.

Schumann - Toccata op. 7, for piano
Schumann - 3 Songs op.114, for three female voices and piano
Schumann - Arabeske op.18, for piano
Mendelssohn - String Quintet in B flat

7:30 PM: Songs of Love and War

Love and war have provided powerful inspiration for music across the last 600 years. This evening program culminates with Beethoven's "Eroica" Symphony performed on period instruments. But along the way we hear from Monteverdi, Brahms, Cole Porter and others. (Included in the ANNUAL or SUMMER PASS)
