Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Wisdom Oak is a story about dedication, passion and our commitment to excellence. What once began as a hobby for founder/owner Jerry Bias, soon became an event of historic proportions. Formerly known as Sugarleaf Vineyards, Bias began with the planting of 375 vines in 2001. He quickly discovered the soil, elevation and climate produced some of the best fruit Virginia has to offer. Almost fifteen years later, Wisdom Oak is still the only African-American owned and operated vineyard on the East Coast.
