The Old City Cemetery

401 Taylor Street
434-847-1465

Old City Cemetery is the oldest public cemetery in Virginia still in use today. Despite being an active place of burial and remembrance, it is one of the busiest and most popular attractions in Lynchburg. We receive more than 33,000 visitors annually, making this the most visited historic site in the City today.

A beautiful and well kept cemetery park with a lot of history. The Chapel is beautiful and has a lot of history all its own. They even have antique roses and goats. Friendly and courteous staff. The centerpiece of this park is definitely the Confederate Section which is the final resting place for over 2200 of our brave soldiers.

Not only are there so many founders of the Sacramento Region buried here - the "old" roses that grow throughout the cemetery are a treat to behold
