THE LOFT GALLERY was founded by Marcia Weidler and Jackie Paetzold in 1986, and is comprised of 20 professional artists. Artists are selected according to the quality of their work, educational backgrounds and experience with their particular media. Their shared dedication in organizing a co-op, which could present their work in the professional setting it deserved, led to the opening of the gallery with a handful of local artists. Special awards and recognition in their respective fields are also considered. A variety of media is represented, including watercolors, oils, woodcuts, pastels, acrylics, photography, original prints, collagraphs, lithographs, stained glass and pottery. Styles follow traditional lines from detailed representational work to soft impressionism.
Each of the artists has brought a personal clientele to the gallery, which has its own carefully established reputation and patronage. Press releases and publicity are sent on a regular basis and open houses are held monthly. The LOFT GALLERY has been featured in news articles in The Potomac News, The Alexandrian Magazine, The Alexandria and Mount Vernon Gazette, The Marketplace Newspaper, The Old Bridge Observer, and The Lakeridge Lantern. The gallery is listed in Gallery magazine.
