Midlothian High School
401 Charter Colony Parkway
804-378-2440

Midlothian High School was located on Route 60 in the village of Midlothian about 8 miles west of Richmond. The community, which is the home of the first coal mines in the United States, was probably named by miners from the shire of Midlothian in Scotland. The high school became accredited in 1923, and there were three graduates in the class that year. Until September, 1966, Midlothian High School included grades one through twelve. The school is accredited by both the State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. A new high school located at 401 Charter Colony Parkway opened for the 1984-85 school year, leaving the original Midlothian High School to become Midlothian Middle School. Through growth and flexibility, Midlothian is striving to meet the changing needs of the youth it serves.
