My wife and I went here for a walk in February 2016, when the lake was frozen over. The walk it gorgeous, it takes half an hour or perhaps longer if you take pictures and all. Great way to have a look at what seems undisturbed nature. Parking is available very conveniently close.
Huntley Meadows is one of our favorite places to in Fairfax County. It's so amazing to me that we have such a beautiful wetland complete with beavers, birds, and other wildlife. The one and a half mile walk through the park it is a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
I love Huntley Meadows! It's a little gem tucked away into the middle of Fairfax County that almost nobody knows of. The nature center is quite nice, and the walk over the boardwalks is well worth it. You'll see loads of wildlife, from turtles, more birds than you can shake a stick at, to snakes, fish, and if you're lucky even a beaver or two! Go for sunrise and take some pictures from the platform - you won't regret it!
Beautiful, have seen snakes, turtles, and an abundance of birds and waterfowl. Has a boardwalk through the woods to the water, and a lookout at the end of the boardwalk in the water. Great day trip.
Good place for a nature walk. Boardwalk is nice, lots of birds. Easy access, kids friendly. Recommend it to others as well.
