This is a beautiful, wonderful place to experience nature even though you live in the city. Forest and wetland ecosystems are here. You can easily see bullfrogs, fish, muskrats, and at least ten different kinds of birds. There is a boardwalk trail over the wetland and a watch tower. There's a nature center, and it seems like they have a program every weekend. I have noticed that a diversity of people visit here, young families, elders, dog walkers, teenagers.

It has a very long wood walk way allow you to see birds and dam. Very easy level of hiking. Good for kids and family. If at right season you will see lots of living creatures.

Huntley Meadows is a wonderful walk through the forest and over the marshlands. My kids absolutely love the place and getting the chance to spot the numerous animals along the way. Highly recommended if you just want some outdoor weather or if you're looking for something to do with the kids. In the summer, however, make sure to pack bug repellant, as you might expect, the mosquitoes can be quite horrific.

Need a quick, inexpensive break from the greater DC area traffic, and the stress of urban atmosphere? How about taking a stroll over some wetlands for free! Yes, Huntley Meadows Park is a swamp near the city airport. Yet, there really is abundant, varied wildlife to see such as turtles, snappers, birds/waterbirds, beavers and muskrats as long as you take the time to slow down and relax! The boardwalk goes right over the water and is a very pleasant, picturesque stroll. No dogs, biking or jogging on the board walk itself - watch for snakes and the occasional grumpy goose! Enjoy!

Bring your mosquito spray because you will need it. The mosquitos do not play around out here and they are everywhere!!! Other than that it is a beautifully paved hiking trail that is very scenic. If you are wanting to explore some of the hiking trails in the area, I would definitely recommend this place!
