Start every month with a unique astronomy-filled experience at the Danville Science Center every first Friday of the month from 5:30 to 9:00p.m.

Watch astronomy based movies and Live Sky planetarium shows in our Digital Dome Theater. Participate in special creative hands-on activities in our lobby. Take a look into the vast expanse of the solar system and beyond through our telescopes. Get a glimpse of the strange and beautiful worlds of other planets, moons, galaxies and other distant objects, weather permitting.

Begin Black History Month with a look back in time to a starry night along the Underground Railroad. Discover how slaves, using a basic knowledge of astronomy and with help from abolitionists of the day, were able to make their way to freedom. Watch parts of the story, Follow the Drinking Gourd, based on the plight of slaves traveling the Underground Railroad, come to life in the Digital Dome Theater. Learn of the contributions and accomplishments of African Americans in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Take part in hands-on science activities inspired by scientific studies of the 1800s. Enjoy a complimentary cup of hot chocolate while looking at distant worlds through our telescopes.
